Massachusetts Private Investigator & Bestselling Author Return to the Golden State to Take on Alcatraz

San Francisco, CA May 06, 2014

Michael A. Coller, Private Investigator and author of "7 Signs of Lying", returns to California to tour historic San Francisco and downtown Los Angeles. Mr. Coller is joined by Sandra Champlain, author of the international bestseller "We Don't Die - A Skeptic's Discovery of Life After Death."

The two are a unique pair whose purpose is to extract truth from lore of historic and often called 'haunted' locations nationwide. They have investigated the famed Lizzie Borden House in Fall River, Massachusetts, the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, California and most recently The Queen Mary in Long Beach, California which has been rated by Time Magazine as one of the Top Ten Most Haunted Places in the World.

Tuesday, May 6, 2014, Coller and Champlain will visit San Francisco, California. Eager to visit sites such as Fisherman's Wharf and Golden Gate bridge, the pair will also investigate Alcatraz Island.

Often referred to as "The Rock", the small island called Alcatraz was developed with facilities for a lighthouse, a military fortification, a military prison in 1868, and a federal prison from 1933 until 1963.

During the years Alcatraz was in use as a federal penitentiary, the jail held some of the most notorious criminals in American history, such as Al Capone, Robert Franklin Stroud (the Birdman of Alcatraz), George "Machine Gun" Kelly and James "Whitey" Bulger.

During its 29 years of operation, the penitentiary claimed that no prisoner successfully escaped. A total of 36 prisoners made 14 escape attempts, two men trying twice; 23 were caught, six were shot and killed during their escape, two drowned, and five are listed as "missing and presumed drowned". On June 11, 1962, Frank Morris, John Anglin, and Clarence Anglin carried out one of the most intricate escapes ever devised.

Michael Coller and Sandra Champlain are both residents of Massachusetts, home to the forthcoming filming of a new movie titled "Black Mass," which features actor Johnny Depp as the notorious gangster, Whitey Bulger, who spent three years in Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary.

Their findings of truth will be freely made available to the public within the upcoming months upon completion of their travels.

Lizzie Borden Murder Mystery Intrigues Massachusetts Author and Private Investigator

Fall River, MA, September 25, 2012 – Peabody, Massachusetts resident & Licensed Private Investigator, Michael A. Coller ventured into 'the world of the paranormal' on September 8, 2012 — the eve of his 45th birthday.

The Lizzie Borden House, better known for the rhyme “Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother forty whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-one.” Located at 92 Second St. in Fall River, MA, it has been rated the number one most haunted place in the United States by the Travel Channel according to

Armed with state-of-the-art, extrasensory ‘Ghost Hunting’ equipment, this daring investigator secured a reservation in the John Morse room where Lizzie Borden’s stepmother, Abby Borden, was mortally wounded with multiple strikes from a hand axe.

Prior to checking in for the evening at this well preserved Bed and Breakfast, Michael traveled to the Oak Grove Cemetery which is the grave site of the Borden family, with an investigative assistant. “The setting was a bit unnerving, dusk, a brisk chill, the onset of the foliage season and not another soul in sight,” stated Mr. Coller.

Although Michael and his team did not detect any solid paranormal activity, he clearly feels that “The Lizzie Borden House is certainly not a place for uneasy or frightened individuals.” After settling in at the Bed and Breakfast then inspecting the Morse Room, Michael remained alert and on guard. “The night remained uneventful and the 9:00 PM – 12:00 AM tour attended by several other guests was entertaining and filled with macabre stories and local lure.” After the tour was completed, the overnight visitors were allowed to roam throughout the house.

In closing, the investigator stated that even though Lizzie was acquitted of the heinous acts committed in 1892, careful review of the evidence and having knowledge of the investigative techniques during that era, his team believes that the probability Lizzie committed the murders is extremely high.

Asked if he felt the Lizzie Borden House was haunted, he responded “I would never challenge anyone one if they said it was haunted. A place that has had such horrific acts committed inside surely has negative energy.” When faced with the question of how he rested that evening, Mr. Coller answered “It was the best night of sleep I had in months!” For more about Private Investigator Michael A. 7 Signs of Lying: Massachusetts Private Investigator, Michael A. Coller, Discusses the Signs of Lying on WAQY - Rock 102.1 FM

Peabody, MA, May 07, 2011 -

Friday, May 6th, 7:11AM,  WAQY's hit morning show Bax and O'Brien banter back and forth about which of them is a Liar. Moments later, Massachusetts Private Investigator, Michael Coller gets on the air and his first words are "Good morning gentlemen, for the record...You Are Both Liars!"

The next 12 minutes of the interview proved to be entertaining and well as extremely informative. Bax and O'Brien questioned Mr. Coller about his "7 Signs of Lying" CD and about how listeners can catch someone telling a lie.

Mr. Coller touched on his "Honesty" model, to easily recall the tell-tell signs that a liar will demonstrate:

O-Open Posture
Y-Ask Why

In his new CD, Mr. Coller speaks in detail about each of the signs as well as giving listeners an opportunity to participate in a one-of-a-kind mental visual imagery. As any elite athlete prepares in their mind prior to a competition, Mr. Coller trains listeners to use the power of their mind to rehearse the scenario with the suspected liar, before actually performing it. This way the listener will feel relaxed while questioning the subject.

Mr. Coller also explained that a "base line" is created after questioning a subject repeatedly on questions that will provide a truthful answer. After many of these questions, subjects will appear "different" if they are asked a question and respond with a lie.

Listeners were engaged for the entire interview and surely entertained as well.
